2008-2009 Patton Elementary PTA
Projects and Goals Committee
Note from Webmaster: I am waiting for the updated file for this page. Thanks for your patience.
The committee members review funding requests from the faculty and staff and PTA executive board for items that cannot be met by the school budget and that will benefit the entire Patton community. Mr. Stevens is also consulted to insure that the requests will compliment the school budget.
In 2006-2007, we spent $8,600 for additional library shelves and funds to the Patton Technology Initiative which receives matching funds from the Austin Community Foundation. In 2005-2006, the PTA spent $18,737 for a marquee, funding to PTI, and after school tutoring stipends as well as other awards. Some items purchased in the past that our school continues to enjoy include the gym scoreboard and timer, the marquee, new library bookshelves, playground shelters and benches, the electronic screen on stage, the popcorn machine and the large PTA copier. These large ticket items will continue to benefit students for many years to come.
The PTA also provides funds for academic support by purchasing Excel worksheets, annual library copies of Texas Bluebonnet books, grade level literacy libraries, after school tutoring stipends, dictionaries, workbooks, musical instruments, microscopes, and Odyssey globes but this is only a partial list. Students benefit from these items that are above and beyond the school's AISD budget only through our PTA's successful fund raising efforts. So when you are asked to purchase items from the gift wrap fund raiser or to work at the carnival, remember why: to enhance our children's school experience so they can learn and grow to the best of their ability. Together, we can make great things happen, but we need everyone's help.
