2008-2009 Student Enrichment

OPEN

Student Enrichment; A committee striving to enhance student life. We look for opportunities to build the school community through shared activities and experiences.

    Some programs we plan for this year are;
  • Math Pentathlon - The Mathematics Pentathlon problem solving games provide a highly motivational format for developing and practicing important mathematics concepts and skills. While playing those games in cooperative groups, students in grades K-8 strengthen their strategic thinking and critical reasoning abilities. Local, Regional and State tournaments.
    For more information, Contact Teresa Baker at 560-5848
  • Destination Imagination - Destination Imagination is a program where teams of 5-7 students work as a team on challenges designed to develop creative problem solving, critical thinking skills and teamwork. Weekly skill sessions will be offered at Patton on Friday's from September 19- November 21. Teams work on individual challenges under the supervision on their Team Managers through April. The activities culminate in a tournament in March. Patton has a coordinator for grades 3-5. If a coordinator joins, we can offer this program for earlier grade levels.Team managers (parents and teachers) are needed. Enrollment fees : $50 for Skills Sessions, $20 for Team Segment, additional fees for optional workshops and trainings hosted by Central Texas Destination Imagination.

How important is your child’s learning environment to you? You lead by example, so if you think there should be stronger connection between neighborhood and school, more opportunities to share culture, languages, strategic games, serve our community and have fun while learning then we need to see you here--where your child spends every day of their elementary life.
